15 banks to donate VND135 billion to prevent COVID-19 epidemic

On the morning of March 17, 2020, in response to the campaign of the State Bank of Vietnam, 15 banks supported VND 135 billion for the program to prevent COVID-19 epidemic set up by the Communist Party and the Government of Vietnam, appealed by Vietnam Fatherland Front. This is a practical action of the banking industry to join hands with state agencies and the community to combat the challenges and minimize the impact caused by the Covid-19 epidemic.

Being one of the banks support the program to prevent COVID-19, "We are always aware that the Joining hands to build the community and contributing to the prevention of Covid-19 are the responsibility and rights of all businesses, banks and individuals in the society.”, Mr. Han Ngoc Vu, General Director of VIB said.

Right before the of donating VND 10 billion to the program mentioned above, VIB was one of the first banks to implement support packages for business customers affected by Covid-19. Initially, nearly 600 customers got support to reduce interest rates from 0.5% - 1.5% over the total outstanding loans of about VND 2,500 billion. There has been approximately 6,500 customers affected by the COVID-19 epidemic, including about 86 large and medium-sized business, the rest are micro business and individual customers. VIB is also implementing solutions for each customer group in accord with the level of influence. 

VIB representative also shared that offer package for online transactions is the bank's next support package for individual customers to promote non-cash payment, be the convenient and safe transaction method amidst COVID-19 epidemic. When making online transactions via internet banking at https://ib.vib.com.vn and MyVIB mobile banking application, customers will receive many incentives including: free fast transfer fee for all transactions up to VND 500,000; free online transfer fee for all Sapphire users; offer interest rate of 0.1% per year for all online deposit...

Besides, right from the beginning of the year when there was a signal of COVID-19 epidemic in Vietnam, VIB promptly gave antibacterial masks and hand sanitizers to any customers visiting VIB's branches to make savings, loan disbursement or credit card registration…. This is the timely sharing and responsibility of businesses to customers and the community.
