VIB receives 9 awards from Mastercard, affirming its leadership in Vietnam’s card market

Vietnam International Bank (VIB) has just been honored by Mastercard with nine major awards, recognizing the bank’s outstanding achievements in credit and debit card development as well as its pioneering role in digital payments in Vietnam. 

In recent years, VIB has consistently been recognized by Mastercard across multiple strategic categories - from card portfolio scale and spending volume to modern payment solutions and product innovation. 

Leading in credit cards and debit cards 

With the awards “Distinguished Leadership in Credit Spend and Credit Portfolio Powerhouse” and “Distinguished Leadership in Debit Spend and Debit Portfolio Powerhouse,” VIB once again reaffirms its position as the leading Mastercard issuer in Vietnam in 2025. 

The bank currently owns a diverse ecosystem of Mastercard card products designed to meet various specialized spending needs. VIB Online Plus 2in1 is the first card in Southeast Asia to integrate both credit and debit functionalities. VIB Premier Boundless and VIB Travel Élite focus on travel benefits such as airport lounge access, hotel/airfare privileges, and low foreign transaction fees. VIB Cash Back offers up to 10% cashback on shopping, dining, and commuting. VIB Rewards Unlimited allows unlimited reward accumulation for redemption or cashback. VIB Financial Free features annual fee waivers and cash withdrawal benefits, suitable for users seeking cost efficiency. 

VIB’s debit card lineup (VIB Platinum Card, VIB Smart Card) also stands out with personalization features, high reward/cashback rates, and premium utilities. 

With its Mastercard card portfolio now exceeding 1 million cards, and total spending reaching nearly VND 119 trillion as of early December 2025, an increase of 14% compared to the same period last year, VIB has made a significant breakthrough in promoting cashless payments, especially in users’ everyday transactions. 

Excellence in e-commerce and leadership in cross-border spending 

VIB continues to reinforce its leadership in modern payment trends as VIB cards are recognized for “Outstanding Achievement in E-commerce,” reflecting the bank’s leading position in online payment volume. As of early December 2025, total e-commerce spending via VIB Mastercard reached over VND 35 trillion, marking a 67% growth compared to the same period last year. 

With the rapid rise of e-commerce in recent years, the bank has developed specialized card lines offering superior benefits for online shoppers. Notable examples include the VIB Online Plus 2in1, which offers up to 5% cashback on online spending, and the VIB Cash Back card, which rewards users with up to 24 million bonus points per year. 

In the field of international payments, VIB has been honored as the bank “Leading in Cross-Border Spending” and “Leading in Cross-Border Travel Spending”, highlighting the surge in overseas spending among VIB cardholders. As of early December 2025, cross-border spending via VIB Mastercard reached nearly VND 7 trillion, up almost 47% compared to the same period in 2024, reflecting customers’ strong trust in VIB’s premium card products and their superior travel benefits. The VIB Travel Élite card with foreign transaction fees starting from just 0%—and the VIB Premier Boundless card with Vietnam Airlines mileage accumulation along with exclusive airport lounge, hotel, and flight privileges remain top choices for travelers when going abroad. 

Pioneering new-era acceptance and next-generation debit solutions 

VIB was also recognized with the “New Era Acceptance” award, reflecting the bank’s efforts in implementing advanced payment acceptance solutions. This award highlights partners who are building next-generation payment acceptance infrastructure through omnichannel models, digital-first strategies, and innovative SoftPOS solutions. 

Notably, VIB’s initiative to introduce the first-ever installment payment feature via international debit cards in Vietnam earned the recognition “Next Gen Debit Solution.”
