Notification on biometric data update from chip-based citizen ID cards

The MyVIB Digital Banking application has launched a biometric authentication feature to help customers feel more secure when transferring money via the banking app, following Decision No. 2345/QD-NHNN of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) on implementing safety and security solutions in online payments and bank card payments.

Benefits of updating biometric data:
- Enhanced security: Activate face recognition security when logging in on a new device, preventing forgery and unauthorized access to accounts.
- Safer transactions: Authenticate customers via face recognition before conducting transactions, verifying accurate customer identification during online transactions.
- Seamless experience: From July 1, 2024, all online transactions will require mandatory authentication; updating your facial data will help you experience uninterrupted and seamless digital banking services.

Types of online transactions requiring biometric data authentication:
Specifically, from July 1, 2024, customers will need to add a face authentication step when performing transactions on MyVIB in the following cases:

- Conducting the first transaction from a new device when logging into the MyVIB app for the first time
- Transferring amounts exceeding 10 million VND per transaction or when the total transfer limit for the day exceeds 20 million VND (*)
- Making payments over 100 million VND per transaction or the total payment value in a day
- Transferring money abroad, regardless of the transaction value

By authenticating transactions through biometric data, VIB commits to providing customers with maximum security and safety in every transaction.

(*) Applicable transaction types:
- Transferring money within the same bank to a different account holder
- Interbank transfers within the country
- Transfers between e-wallets
- Adding money to an e-wallet
- Withdrawing money from an e-wallet

How to authenticate biometric data on the MyVIB Digital Banking Application:

1. Access the MyVIB, go to "Others," and select Account Verification
2. Capture your Citizen ID card
3. Scan your facial image
4. Read the chip information on the Citizen ID card
5. Confirm completion.

- Customers should only update biometric data on the MyVIB Digital Banking application or visit a VIB branch for support.
- To avoid the risk of fraud and scams, please do not update biometric data through any other websites or applications.
