Three simple ways to avoid inactive account fees

Starting December 2025, VIB will implement a fee of 10,000 VND/month (excluding VAT) for current accounts (CAs) that generate no transactions. This is a common policy in the banking industry aimed at encouraging customers to manage their accounts more effectively. However, avoiding this fee is extremely simple.
Which accounts will be charged?
VIB will charge a fee of VND 10,000/month (excluding VAT) for current accounts opened at customer service counters that have had no customer-initiated transactions for 12 consecutive months or more.
For inactive accounts with insufficient balance, VIB will deduct the fee from the remaining balance. Any remaining fee that cannot be charged will be waived for the customer.
Fees will be charged within the first 15 days of each month.
Three simple ways to avoid inactive account fees
Option 1: Make a balance-increasing transaction
This is the easiest way if your account has been inactive for less than 60 months. You only need to perform a credit transaction into your account, such as:
- Transfer money from another account
- Receive funds from family or friends
- Deposit cash at a branch or ATM
Just one simple transaction will reactivate your account and help you avoid the inactivity fee.
Option 2: Visit a branch/transaction office to reactivate
If your account has been inactive for a long time (60 months or more), you need to visit the nearest VIB Branch or Transaction Office for reactivation support. The VIB staff will assist you in completing the process quickly.
Option 3: Close the account if you no longer need it
If you no longer need the account, the best solution is to visit a VIB Branch/Transaction Office to close it. This helps you avoid future fees and makes your personal finance management simpler.

- Regularly check the accounts you own
- Use your account for frequent transactions such as bill payments or online shopping
- Close accounts you no longer use to avoid forgetting them and incurring fees.
