New fake bank identity fraud schemes warning

Dear valued customers,

VIB would like to update you on new sophisticated fraud schemes related to fake bank brand names. To secure your assets, please strictly follow below guidelines:

1. Fraudulent fraud, fake bank brand
Scammers send messages to customers using overseas numbers, registered using banks’ brand names, to entice customers to access a fake website with address and interface similar to the official ones. Customers usually be asked to provide their bank account information such as username, ID card number, password, and OTP code.

2. Important recommendations to protect property
Until now, there is no record of VIB customers experiencing this fraud. However, VIB would like to advise our customers to be very cautious:
Should do:

• Make transaction via MyVIB app with our advanced authentication solution Smart OTP instead of SMS OTP.
• Manually type VIB website address ib.vib.com.vn instead of selecting available links. VIB official website uses HTTPS protocol for utmost security. Thus, you shall find a lock icon in the address bar when visiting our website.
• Only access and declare your username, password, and PIN for E-banking service at:
  Website: ib.vib.com.vn (with a safety lock icon)
  MyVIB application                                   
  Note: scammers might use confusing website addresses to trick you into providing your information. For example: iib.vib.com.vn . 
• Restrict from using public computers, public wireless networks when accessing electronic banking system.
• Keep your anti-malware software and operating system for personal devices such as phones, computers updated.
• Regularly change your e-banking service and personal information storage passwords at least every 3 months.
• Regularly update and comply with warnings and regulations on confidential virtual safety in online payments from VIB and the mass media, register to receive transaction alert.

Should not do:

• Do not access to strange website addresses with no safety lock icon. Do not use public computers in restaurants, cafes, etc. to log in E-Banking and make financial transactions.
• Never reveal passwords, PINs, OTP codes to any person or organization, including bank employees.
• Never open/download files or access unknown links, sent from suspicious sites.
• Do not record passwords, PIN, OTP on paper; do not use predictable information such as date of birth, license plate as passwords, PINs for financial services.
• Do not use one single password for online banking, email, and social networks.

In case of experiencing scams or fraud, please be cautious, immediately change your Internet Banking and MyVIB password, and notify VIB at hotline 24/7 1800 8180 (free) or go to the nearest VIB transaction office for timely support.
