Important warning about bank fraud and impersonation scams

In recent years, high-tech crime has become increasingly complicated and pervasive in a variety of forms, as well as more sophisticated. To boost vigilance and guarantee the safety of your information and assets, VIB would like to provide you with the following safety transaction suggestions during this period:

Fraud risks to pay attention to in banking transactions:

Impersonating the Bank to approach customers with the following scenarios:

-    Support customers to take biometric authentication, entice customers to add friend via Zalo and request to provide images of  citizen identity card, selfie photos and or video calls in order to collect customers' voice and gestures for impersonation, account appropriation or use for other malicious related-purposes.
-    Via phone calls to collect customers' card information including OTP or access fake websites, fake emails similar to VIB’s websites, emails with soliciting services, for instance: increase credit limit services , card cancellation service, annual fee waiver/cancellation..., enclose with a link to a fake VIB website and collect information and images of customers including: images of  citizen identity card,, identity photos, capture the front and back of credit card and OTP to carry out the act of appropriating money through transactions from the credit card.
-    Phishing websites and applications for governmental services (such as the VneID app, the Ministry of governmental Security, the General Department of Taxation, etc.) that include malicious code and take control of customers’ devices, then perpetrate fraud and pilfer property.
VIB fully commits to having no relationship or cooperation with these organizations, and offering no limit increases over the phone or illegal services via calls from fake phone numbers or phony emails.

Preventive measures against fraud in banking transactions:

Please: 
-    DO NOT provide personal documents to outsiders. In case customer could not authenticate his/her identity to continue using banking services according to instructions from the MyVIB, customer comes directly to the nearest Branch/Transaction Office for assistance.
-    DO NOT access strange applications or links when received via email, text messages, social networks or calls with requests for personal information and service access information.
-    DO NOT provide personal information/card information/bank account information, OTP to anyone. VIB never asks customers to provide OTP or login password.
-    DO NOT install applications from unknown sources via links or application files and DO NOT grant accessibility permissions to the application.
-    DO NOT engage in activities such as selling, renting, lending, or opening payment accounts, which can potentially be exploited for illegal transactions. These actions are considered illegal under the law.
-    SHOULD block cards and payment accounts (via MyVIB application or contact Hotline 1900 2200/ 1800 8195) when suspecting signs of fraud.
-    Raise awareness of strange calls and messages related to State agencies, these agencies. DO NOT work via phone and social networks.
-    SHOULD report to the authorities if you detect cases requiring money transfer, providing personal information, card/bank account information.
-    SHOULD regularly stay up-to-date methods and tricks of criminals on the media and VIB website/ MyVIB application/ VIB Fanpage.

-    VIB exclusively contacts customers for card service support only at these phone numbers:

•    Customers using Viettel and Mobifone subscriptions will see the "VIB" brand during calls.
•    Customers using the others will see the VIB phone number according to updated information here
