CEO of CBA in a working visit to VIB’s Head Office

Hanoi – June 8th 2016, Mr. Ian Narev, CEO of Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA) and CBA’s senior managers made a working visit to the Head Office of Vietnam International Bank (VIB). Mr. Dang Khac Vy - Chairman of Board and CEO Mr. Vu Han Ngoc together welcomed the delegation and held discussions between the two banks.

At the meeting, Mr. Ian Narev updated Mr. Vy on the latest developments in the Australian economy and on the performance of CBA in both Australia and in the global markets in which it operates. He highly appreciates the collaboration between the two banks, VIB’s transparency, professionalism and seriousness. He sees this strategic cooperation relationship as a good business investment made by CBA in Vietnam.

Mr. Dang Khac Vy also explained to Mr. Narev the situation in the Vietnam economy and how VIB has been recognized by many prestigious international organizations for VIB’s strong performance and transparency.  

The meeting then reviewed all achievements during the 6 of years of cooperation between VIB and CBA and agreed that that the collaboration between the two banks has been very fruitful and effective, especially in the human development to enhance the capability and international working experience in the emerging markets.VIB and CBA also discussed some of the key areas where they can deepen our cooperation through Capability Transfer Program. For example, CBA has been investing in some interesting technology innovation and there are many ways in which CBA and VIB can learn from each other. CBA also encourages VIB to select its talented candidates and send them to CBA for training and working. Both parties made a strong commitment to work together to ensure VIB is successful as it enters its next growth phase. 

For more than 24 hours working in Vietnam, Mr. Ian Narev and other CBA’s senior managers had meetings with Mr. Vuong Dinh Hue, Deputy Premier of Vietnam, and Mrs. Nguyen Thi Hong, Deputy Governor of SBV. He also visited some of VIB branches in Hanoi.

CBA is now the largest bank in Australia. It is one of the world’s 10 largest banks in market capitalization. Since 2010, CBA has been being a shareholder of VIB. Since then, the bank has sent many experts to work in VIB through the Capabilities Transfer Program.
