VIB receives two international awards of digital banking

Vietnam International Bank (VIB) was named “Digital bank of the year 2017” at the Asset Triple A Digital Awards 2017 in Hong Kong. The mobile banking app MyVIB won the award of Best retail mobile banking experience 2017. It’s the second time the bank has been accorded by The Asset Magazine. VIB is also the first local bank that has been awarded by The Asset in two consecutive years.
The award “Digital bank of the year 2017” and “Best retail mobile banking experience 2017” are two important awards in “The Asset Triple A Digital Awards” of The Asset. The awards were assessed by a panel of experienced experts in the region, aiming to honor financial institutions and technology firms with excellence in development and application of digital technologies in the Asia Pacific region, including Japan and Australia. The Asset’s awards are prestigious qualifications with a transparent assessment in strict process and granted to banks and relevant institutions with outstanding achievements and contributions in the finance and banking industry in the year.
The awards recognized VIB’s efforts and performances in pioneering development of digital bank in Vietnam. VIB is the first local bank that enabled customers to open bank accounts online without being present at the bank. It’s also among pioneers in boosting investment in Digital Marketing as considering it the most important key to connect with customers in digital era. In addition, VIB is well-known as one of financial institutions that recognize importance of fintechs in expanding capacity of providing customers with innovative and effective services. The mobile banking app MyVIB is an example for VIB’s cooperation with fintechs, providing unique and outstanding functions such as transferring money in real-time via social networks or buying air tickets easily and quickly.
Besides, the mobile banking app MyVIB provides customers with many financial services such as bill payment, online saving, managing credit cards, monitoring and repaying loans, etc. With investment and focus on customers’ experiences, the MyVIB was once again awarded best retail mobile banking experience. Earlier, VIB was named “Most Innovative Bank Vietnam 2017” by Global Banking & Review Finance.
“The Assets highly appreciate VIB as the bank pioneers developing digital bank in Vietnam. By focusing on real needs and experiences of customers, we achieved good performances. In 2017, by offering the service of opening bank accounts online, we attracted a number of customers who accounting for 20% of our new customers. The number of people who registered for the digital bank service increased by 50% year-on-year. The quantity of customers downloading mobile banking app MyVIB up 104%, and the number of customers who regularly use the app increased by 87% year-on-year,” Mr. Tran Nhat Minh, Deputy Chief Executive Officer cum Head of Business Technology Service of VIB, said.
